Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 46, Day 5, Thursday, 14th November 2024 TOPIC: Studying John 6:1-15. Don't Be a Discourager (5)

TOPIC: Studying John 6:1-15. Don't Be a Discourager (5)

MEMORY VERSE:
John 6:6.
"6. And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do."

BIBLE READING:
John 6:7-9.
"7. Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little."
"8. One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
"9. There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?"

Thinking Point:
Let your words motivate others, not to discourage and pull them down.

May the words of our mouth and the meditation of our heart be a blessing to others in Jesus name, Amen.
As believers, what words come from us, does it weigh others down or lift them up? Do we motivate or discourage others concerning their dreams? Do people avoid you when they have good plans for their lives or they are happy to discuss it with you? How solution oriented are you to people around you? Many dreams and purposes in life have been uprooted through word of mouth under the siege of words of encouragement. Let your words be a blessing not a source of discouragement.

Jesus asked His disciples whom He believed so much in them that they must have learnt a lot from Him during their work. He sought for positive answers to feed the multitude around Him but the responses were not what He expected. He called Philip for an idea but Philip threw back a discouraging question,
"7. Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little."

His words were like, "Do you know what the cost will be to feed these people? Even Two Hundred pennies worth of bread can't be enough, which type of question are you asking? Jesus, forget about feeding here".

The next person was Andrew, he's was like mocking Jesus,
"9. There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: But What Are They Among So Many?"

Andrew was like, "Well, one small boy is here who has five loaves of bread and two fishes, I don't know if you can feed them with that, that's all we have in this wilderness.

Brethren, if your faith doesn't equate to other's faith, it's better you remain silent. Don't let your word be the reason someone will lose his purpose and live an unfulfilled life here on earth. If it weren't Jesus, the dream to feed more than Five thousands of people would have ended and become unfulfilled. What advice are you giving others? What is your response to others' growth and improvement? It's time to live as a believer who believes in possibilities in the midst of impossibilities. It's time to make your words count for good things, let your response motivate not discourage people. If you don't believe in what others are doing, don't discourage them. It is better to remain silent than to make a blunt response that brings shame after the fulfillment of that dream. Increase the level of your faith and try to see possibilities always.
