Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 48, Day 7, Saturday, 30th November 2024 TOPIC: QUALITIES OF KING SOLOMON: Solomon Was Selfless (7)

TOPIC: QUALITIES OF KING SOLOMON: Solomon Was Selfless (7)

MEMORY VERSE:
2 Samuel 12:24
And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: AND THE LORD LOVED HIM.

BIBLE READING:
1 Kings 3:9.
"9. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?"

Thinking Point:
Reasons for praying amiss is selfishness and self centred. When we are selfless we pray rightly.

God has been faithful to us all, it's the last day of the month of November, regardless of your present situation, wherever you are at this moment, just show Him gratitude for keeping you till date, Hallelujah.

If there's anything that makes God happy and satisfied, it's when you sacrifice for others, when you put others in mind even before God. God created us "all" to be a watchman for one another, we are to impact everyone that comes our way in our capacity. When we pray, do you intercede for others? Do we remember to include them in our request or report them to God? Do we pray amiss because of our selfishness or pray aright because of our selflessness? In the account of James 4:3, the Bible says,
"3. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts." This act was found in King Solomon who was a selfless king.

When God asked Him to present his request, check what he's request was,
"9. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, That I May Discern Between Good And Bad: For Who Is Able To Judge This Thy So Great A People?"

His request was to judge the people of God rightly, not to frustrate them for selfish reasons, not to make life unbearable for them. He asked for an understanding heart to please God while judging God's children, what a request? When we ask for wealth, what is our focus with the wealth? When we ask for a job, do we ask so we can suppress others or put them in consideration? Most prayers are delayed or rejected because they are based on selfish reasons, God doesn't grant requests so that it'll hurt His children, He grants requests that work in favour of his children. Have you checked those requests of yours, are they selfish or selfless? Stop praying amiss by praying selflessly.
