TOPIC: THE DECEIT OF THE DEVIL: Men's Effort Begins (10)

MEMORY VERSE: 
1 Peter 5:8.
"8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"

BIBLE READING:
Genesis 3:7.
"7. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; AND THEY SEWED FIG LEAVES TOGETHER, AND MADE THEMSELVES APRONS."

Thinking Point:
Disobedience makes man ashamed of going back to God and start trying men's way.

Father, help us remember to turn to you early when we miss our steps, in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.

Speaking of other consequences having eaten the fruit in the garden, human effort steps in, confusion and loss of direction becomes vivid. What one finds difficult to do under the glory of God becomes the only alternative, and above all no thought of going back to God. When Abraham listened to Sarah to have Hagai as his wife, human effort seemed the best at that moment to him. He welcomed the idea and forgot about God's promise of becoming great. In the space of time he saw hagai becoming pregnant but the consequence stepped in, hagai became something else and disrespected her mistress. When Sarah came with the idea of sending her away, that was when Abraham remembered to seek the face of God, Genesis 16.

Adam and Eve, still lost in their sin, searching for ways to handle their nakedness, didn't remember to seek God's face. They began to search for alternatives until the idea of covering with leaves came into their mind. They saw their effort as the best but never considered what and how God will feel about it. When we go on with human effort, we hardly remember how God will feel or if it pleases Him. When we started that marriage with God and turned away from Him, we end up being frustrated and in search for alternative to mend situations which God would have handled without stressing us. We put in human effort which later end the marriage, I pray this morning, we will not miss it in life, may our eyes remain focus on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, instead of our effort in Jesus name, Amen. It's time to forsake human effort and seek God's help. Human effort doesn't lead to God's purpose for our lives, it only takes us farther from Him. Turn to God today and put an end to human struggling in your life, may the Lord give us the courage to turn back to Him in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
