TOPIC: THE DECEIT OF THE DEVIL: Avoid Blame Game (12)
MEMORY VERSE:
1 Peter 5:8.
"8. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"
BIBLE READING:
Genesis 3:11-13.
"11. And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?"
"12. And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat."
"13. And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat."
Thinking Point:
Enough of casting and pushing blame on others, take responsibility for your actions.
Within the remaining days of this year, God will visit you and make you smile with tears, in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
We have been studying the consequences of disobedience to God's instructions. Another consequence is what I call Blame Game, seeing others as the reason for your failure or disobeying God's instructions. God created humans and gave us the right and reasoning to choose what to do. God gave us the right to decide on what to do, how to do, when to do and also gave us the opportunity to turn to Him for directions or a reminder of His will concerning us. What we do is a product of our decision not the product of anyone or God. Complete reasoning and obedience to God's instructions is what can make us fulfill God's purpose for our lives.
Instruction was given to Adam and Eve not to eat from the Tree Of Life and the Tree Of Knowing Good And Evil. Eve listened to the serpent and disobeyed God's instructions. Adam also listened to Eve and disobeyed God’s instructions, in other words, they both made the decision to eat the fruit not because the serpent forced them. When God came in, Adam blamed two persons for eating the fruit, firstly, God, He said "The woman you gave me" not my wife, not the bone of my bone again, but " The woman you gave me". That means, it was you, God, that I blame. When I was without her I never disobeyed your words until she came in. Secondly, he pointed to the woman, "she gave me of the tree, and I did eat". Was it God's fault to give him a helpmate? No. Who decided to take the fruit from the woman? Adam's personal decision.
Also, Eve pointed to the serpent saying, "The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat." Was she forced by the serpent? No. This has been the way many believers live their lives. We refuse to take responsibility for our actions. When our actions produce good results, we claim credit at others expense, when the product is bad we push the blame, always running from taking responsibility. You failed not because the lecturer failed you, but for lack of proper preparation. The business failed not because the country is bad but lack of good marketing strategy. Your home had issues not because of people's advice but because you gave in to their advice. Have a rethink concerning those blames you push to others, they are as a result of the duties you left undone, lack of preparation, negligence on your side not that spouse of yours or business partner. Stop casting blame and start taking responsibility. You are a product of what happens to you, you form your life the way you want it. Rise up to your responsibility, when you fail take the blame and when you pass claim the credit. Stop blaming others for what you permit in your life.
