BIBLE READING:
Ephesians 4:32
"32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Thinking Point:
No one can escape being hurt but the only way to get healed is forgiveness.
The Third Ingredient of Unity is Forgiveness. God demonstrates this by sending Jesus to take the sins of the world away in order to unite us to Himself. Where unforgiveness reigns, pretence governs such relationships. Unforgiveness tears apart everything unity builds. So, to sustain unity in any relationship we need to learn to forgive all wrongs.
How Do We Forgive?
1 Speak to the offender, Math. 5:23.
The best way is to let people know what they've done wrong. So many times we think it's intentional but may be a mistake. Call people's attention to their wrong and discuss it.
2 Present it wisely.
Presentation matters when trying to correct an action. It should be presented with the mind to correct not to argue.
3 Be willing to accept your faults and repent, Luke 17:3-4.
When your wrong is presented to you, accept and apologize as soon as possible. Trying to prove your right most times deteriorates and elongates the situation.
4 Learn to let go, Math 11:25.
Even when you can't meet with such a person or you know he wouldn't accept his fault, Jesus said you should forgive him so as not to stop your prayers. When you don't forgive you can't be united with such a person.
For any relationship to enjoy unit forgiveness is another ingredient to apply often. Always let go of hurts and wrongs, then unity can be achieved.
Who do you need to forgive? Who do you need to speak to and bury the matter between you? Some would say, "I can never forgive him/her" you have established disunity in that relationship. Let go and let God, then can unity be vivid in our lives.
May the spirit to forgive rest upon us this morning, whoever has any hurt against you, may you be able to let go of them this morning in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
Good morning, and God bless you.
