Mobile Daily Devotional with Oluboye Emmanuel Week 18, Day 1, Sunday, 27th April 2025 TOPIC: TYPES OF MENTALITY: Negative Thought Mentality (8)

TOPIC: TYPES OF MENTALITY: Negative Thought Mentality (8)

One Year Bible Reading:
1 Samuel 29 - 31, Luke 22: 39 - 65.

MEMORY VERSE:
Philippians 4:8.
"8. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

BIBLE READING:
2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
"4. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)"
"5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

Thinking Point:
Our thoughts determine who we are. The mind is the battlefield for Defeat or victory.

Happy Sunday to you all, may His presence rest upon us as we appear in Zion today in Jesus name, Amen.

What goes on in our heart, the mind, determines the real us. The mind determines who we become either a loser or a winner. The mind is the seat of wisdom and also the battlefield where products are made or mar. What goes on in the mind reflects what we do, what we say and how we feel in the physical. There are these two words, 'Thought of Evil and Evil Thought'. Yes, it may be very hard to differentiate but we will go into it this morning. Thoughts of evil are thoughts that jump into your mind through what you see, hear or feel. They are not initiated by you but cross the mind, you have the ability to resist them instantly and move on. On the other hand, Evil thoughts are what you initiated because of what happened to you. It can also be a result of not disconnecting from "thought of evil" and it's very hard to overcome if care is not taken. You initiated it out of revenge, hurt, lust of the eye or hatred. You will need God to help you stop this thought without acting on it. Brethren, any of these thoughts aren't God's thoughts but thoughts that emanated from the flesh.

Apostle Paul speaking in our reading today, said,
"5. Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

To overcome these thoughts we need to be spiritual, disciple and be filled with the word of God. We need to cast down those thoughts at the onset, resist such thoughts and move on. Thought has the ability to retract itself if we allow it, that's why apostle said,
"bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ", we need to bring those thoughts before Jesus in our heart. We need to pray at that moment and subdue it through the word of God. Every evil starts from thought, name any wickedness in the world today, they are initiated by thoughts, either thought of evil or evil thought. These thoughts make you do what you never intend to do, it's the reason for divorce, killing, rituals, kidnapping, banditry, adultery, fornication, stealing, depression, envy, robbery to name but few. How do we handle it? By the word of God. We cast it down by the word of the Lord, what is God's word saying about this thought? Are they negative or positive?

We need to guide our minds from negative mentality. Resist the devil and he shall flee, it all starts from within, from our thoughts, I pray that we find the power to control our minds in Jesus name, Amen.
