Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 26, Day 2, Monday, 23rd June, 2025 TOPIC: ASKING, SEEKING AND KNOCKING: Granting Request (2)

TOPIC: ASKING, SEEKING AND KNOCKING: Granting Request (2)

One Year Bible Reading:
Ezra 7 - 8, Acts 10: 24 - 48.

MEMORY VERSE:
Matthew 7:7.
"7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:"

BIBLE READING:
1 Kings 17:10-12.
"10. So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. 11. And as she was going to fetch it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray thee, a morsel of bread in thine hand. 12. And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die."

Thinking Point:
Nothing is bad when someone asks for help but it is bad when you have and refuse to give.

It's a new week of positive response to every of our requests in Jesus name, Man and God shall grant our desires this week, Amen. Happy New Week.

Yesterday, we started this series with "Asking" and we concluded that asking is not a crime but don't be a burden on others. Today, we are looking at "Granting Requests". This is a process of responding positively to a request of help. Do you respond to the cry of others? What is your response? Do you comply with the request or did you grant the request?
What we need to know is this, if you can't solve the problem or have someone who can solve the problem through you, the request wouldn't have come to you. That someone came to ask you for help means you have a solution to that help. Yes, I believe not all requests we can respond to but there are some we can solve without stress, solve them and be a blessing to others.

The widow of Zarephath was met with a request to give some water and a meal to Prophet Elijah. Truthfully, she explained her situation to Elijah, all she had was just for her and her son then they were expecting death. But the Lord who sent Elijah knew the widow had all it took to take care of Elijah and her family for a long time but she was focused on what she had at the moment. When someone asks you for help, don't reject them bluntly, ask yourself firstly, Why me? Second, can I afford it with what I have on me? Thirdly, what will Jesus want me to do at this moment?

Elijah told the woman, I don't care what you have at home but go and make mine first and prepare for yourself. Have you imagined that if this widow refused to release that meal how would she have lived during the famine period? When you withhold what you have you miss the abundance God has for you. When you send those who ask for help away unattended to, you are sending away the response to your request also.

Luke 6:38, says,
"38. Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

When you give the little you have you will reap it back in full. When you respond to the cry of help God listens to your cry of help. When you turn people down by not attending to their needs, God will raise someone else to do it but when it's your time of need He takes His face away. So therefore, responding to the cry of request is our invitation to accessing the help we need. What is your response to those who come to you for help, asking for assistance when you have the ability to do your best? Be willing to grant requests to meet needs and save souls.

Good morning, and God bless you.
