Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 27, Day 5, Thursday, 3rd July, 2025 TOPIC: FAITHFULNESS PRECEDES FULFILMENT: Be A Tither 2 (5)

TOPIC: FAITHFULNESS Precedes FULFILMENT: Be A Tither 2 (5)

One Year Bible Reading:
Job 1 - 2, Acts 16: 16 - 40.

MEMORY VERSE:
Nehemiah 9:7-8
"7. You are the lord God, who chose Abram and brought him from Ur of the Chaldeans and renamed him Abraham. 8. When he had proved himself faithful, you made a covenant with him to give him and his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites, and Girgashites. And you have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word."

BIBLE READING:
Genesis 14:17-20.
"17. And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale. 18. And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. 19. And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: 20. And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. AND HE GAVE HIM TITHES OF ALL.

Thinking Point:
Tithing is giving back to God from what He has blessed you with willingly.

Let's proceed further from where we stopped yesterday. It's good to know that tithing is at our discretion, it should be from our heart and to be done totally without any complaint. The second person to pay tithe after Abraham was Jacob, Isaac's son, Abraham's grand child. He made tithe a vow without request in Genesis 28:20-22, the Bible says,
"20. And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, 21. So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God: 22. And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I WILL SURELY GIVE THE TENTH UNTO THEE."

It was a personal decision here and was made with God. In this dispensation, after the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus, tithe has not been revoked by God or Jesus. In Matthew Jesus made mention of paying tithe again,
Matthew 23:23,
"23. What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. YOU SHOULD TITHE, YES, but do not neglect the more important things.' NLT.

He never stopped tithing, he only made it known that tithing shouldn't stop you from showing Mercy, Faith and Justice. Tithing is what you decide to do which attracts the blessings of God. Back to our focus, to prove our faithfulness to God we need to do this to attract God to ourselves and enjoy the fulfilment of His promises. When Abraham paid tithe to Melchizedek it was a proof to God that Abraham can't withhold anything from Him and He began to bring His promises to past in His life. Let's think of it this way, what's hard in giving to God from what He gave you? Some say the remaining 90% can't be enough for them. So, what 90% can't do, how can 10% do it? 10% is like a seed reserved by a farmer from every seed product for seed time, that is it. When you tithe you have nothing to lose but many things to gain. It's a proof of walking with God that nothing is too important to release to Him. It activates the fulfilment of God's promises for one's life. Be a tither and you will never regret it.

Good morning, and God bless you.
