Why Are You Afraid?
"Why Are You Afraid?"
Bible Passage:
Mark 4:36-40.
"36. they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed)."
"37. But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water."
"38. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?”
"39. When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm."
"40. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Opposition After Victory
When Jesus was resting in the boat comfortably after His crusade with different signs and wonders. The devil saw that he lost many battles, many of his captives were delivered and set free from their shackles. He was enraged at Jesus. The reason for the storm was their last testimony, which angered the devil. He saw many boats still following Jesus in the sea, so, he targeted Jesus and His disciples boat. He brought the storm, heavy storm than what the disciples could imagine. But Jesus was in the boat, just as He is with you.
Your Reaction
The disciples shouted, "Jesus, there's a storm, and you're sleeping! We'll all drown!" Have you called Jesus to interfere in that situation, or are you just complaining? Is that child the storm? Is it that marital issue? Do you remember how He rescued you in the past?Call Jesus and tell Him, "There's a storm; come and calm it for me."
Jesus Response
Jesus asked the disciples, "Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Can you remember those past testimonies and use them to grow your faith?
Jesus is asking you, "Why are you afraid?"
Why are you afraid of moving forward? Why are you afraid of taking that right step? Why are you afteiar of breaking barriers since He is with you?
What you're facing, is it that tough than what you've been through before? Didn't He save you? Why are you afraid when you have Jesus in your life?
You may be saying, "I don't understand," or "It's my cross, so you don't know what you're saying." But Jesus says, "Why are you afraid? Do you think He can't do it? Is the situation more than God? Why the fear? Has He failed you before? Has He ever disappointed you?" Why the fear?
Jesus calmed the storm, and He can calm your storms too. You need to know why you're afraid, then you can know what to do next. For me, I know Jesus is trustworthy, dependable, reliable, consistent, and true to His word. Don't be afraid; He will calm your storms.
