TOPIC: A WET WOOD: Honoured and Dishonour Vessel (4)
One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 94 - 98, Romans 15: 5 - 13.
Memory Verse:
Prov. 26:20
"20 Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases."
BIBLE READING:
2 Tim. 2:20.
"20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work."
Thinking Point:
A dishonour vessel is a wet wood while an honour vessel is a dry wood, which are you?
A blessed day ahead of you today in Jesus name, Amen.
In this dispensation of the Holy Spirit, we Christians have become so judgemental and being led by eye-service and wealth in our churches. Most times our focus is far from the mind of God. We have turned the word of God which says, "The righteous shall live by faith" to "The righteous shall live by sight and experience". We keep looking up to some set of people as "honour vessels" while relegating some as "dishonour vessels" just by sight and not by faith. We focus on gold and silver most of the time, neglecting the wood and the clay in the house of God.
Let's be clear of the right meaning of our Bible passage for today. The Lord is not against the wood and the clay in the house of God. The house of God is full of diverse honour vessels with different capacities. That someone has no silver or gold (wealth) doesn't mean such is a wood or clay in God's house, no, that's not the interpretation. When the scriptures speak of silver and gold vessels it's not by rank, level or position, it's by responsibility and availability. Hear this, the lead pastor of a church may be a clay vessel while the usher is the gold vessel, it's a thing of the heart not of the eye. Mind you, the gold may not be as active as the wood in the church. Mind you, all these symbolises members and leaders in the church. This is the mind blowing message, a vessel may be a clay, gold, silver or wood and may be a dishonour or honour vessel. Dishonoured vessels are what I refer to as wet wood while the honoured vessels are dry wood. Some people we look down on may be the dry wood, a vessel of honour before God while those we ranked Holy vessels are the wet wood and dishonoured vessels. Here is the good news, Apostle Paul said, but
"21. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter (dishonour vessel), he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work."
In other words, if the wet wood, the dishonour vessel cleanses themselves from being dishonour, then they will be fit for the master use, either gold, silver, clay or wood. Eye service can qualify one as a dishonour vessel. Many people you classify as useless by sight may be the financial of the church in secret, the prayer house of the church, or followup members working underneath without the pastor's knowledge. So, a wet wood or dishonoured vessel can only identify themself, they know why they do what they are doing.
The question is this, Are you that vessel of honour or dishonour? Not just the wood, clay, silver or gold but are you an honour vessel in God's hand? God is still in search of honour vessels, for the field is ripe for harvest, can He find you? Stop looking down on others, focus on being the honour vessel, the dry wood. Just be an honour vessel in God's hand.
Good morning, and God bless you.
