Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry© Mobile Daily Devotional Week 7, Day 2, Monday, 9th February, 2026 TOPIC: The Voice Of God: Lack of Recognition (2)

TOPIC: The Voice Of God: Lack of Recognition (2)

One Year Bible Reading:
Exodus 36 - 37
Matthew 26:57 - 75

MEMORY VERSE:
Isaiah 30:21.
"21. And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."

BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 3:8-10.
"8. And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child. 9. Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10. And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth."

Thinking Point:
Recognising God's voice is the pathway to identify God’s Voice.

This new week, you will recognise God's voice as He leads you to profit and rescue you and I from every form of evil in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Yesterday the first point we discussed that hinders God's voice is the lack of attentiveness to His voice. A wandering heart is a heart that can't hear God's voice. Today, we are focusing on the lack of recognition for His voice. Daily, God speaks to everyone concerning our lives but only few recognise his voice. Recognising God's voice makes it easier on how to obey Him. God wouldn't need to shout for you and I to hear Him but He will always speak in a way that we will understand but we are not ready to recognise His voice. I once told a minister that, God will not use a different method to speak to you about His message and use a different method to speak to you about your marriage, He will use that voice that you have recognised with Him.

Young Samuel was a very good example. He is like many Christians of today who are conversant with the church, workers and stewards in God's house but couldn't recognise his voice. Young Samuel lives with Prophet Eli, does the work in the sanctuary day and night, as a matter of fact, he sleeps very close to the Ark of God daily, according to verse 3,
"3. The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle near the Ark of God." (NLT) But he didn't recognise the voice of God. Many Christians today fall into the same shoe, we are full of activities but not spirituality. We are in the service but lack God's voice. It is my prayer today that our ears will be open to hear and recognise God's voice from today on in Jesus name, Amen.

God came calling on Samuel, he heard the voice but couldn't differentiate the voice from that of Eli. God called him three times and he went to Prophet Eli three times until Eli recognised that it was Good that was calling Samuel. God has been speaking to many of us but we lack the ability to recognise His voice among the whole noise going on in our heart. We are unable to separate His voice from our thoughts and imagination. Until Samuel was instructed to respond by saying, "Speak for thy servant is listen"
Then and then was he able to recognise God's voice. The first step here is that, Samuel was attentive to be able to hear God's voice. He wasn't disturbed in hearing but still he couldn't recognise God's voice. He couldn't separate it from Eli's voice. So, many were attentive but couldn't recognise His voice. I pray for someone today, may your ear be able to recognise the voice of God when He comes calling in Jesus name, Amen. May you and I be able to recognise His voice daily and at every moment in all areas of life in Jesus name, Amen. Recognising God's Voice in the path way to obeying God's word.
