TOPIC: YOUR NEIGHBOUR: Not By Recognition (4)
One Year Bible Reading:
Leviticus 13 - 14
Mark 3: 13 - 35
MEMORY VERSE:
Matthew 22:39.
"39. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
BIBLE READING:
Luke 10:32.
"32. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side."
Thinking Point:
It is better to help an unknown neighbour than a known neighbour.
Today being the midweek, may the Lord the desires of our heart, increase our honour on every side, take evil away from us in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
In continuation of "Your Neighbour", from the parable of Jesus. Yesterday we concluded that it's better to be a neighbour's priest than to be a titled priest. What more? Jesus went on to say a Levite came to the robbed man, looked at him and continued his journey without making a move to attend to him. Just imagine a man laying down for hours seeing someone coming towards his side, and all he could do was to check his face and turn back because he wasn't a member of his synagogue or relative or friend, so he was left to die. The Levite represents a self-centred believer who believes in denomination, I, Me and Myself. Nothing concerns me as long as I don't know who you are. Mind you a Jewish member serves under the Levite and the Priest but since they don't belong to the same Parish it's not their member, since it is neither from his family relations or close ally he isn't a neighbour.
Who is a neighbour again? Jesus was speaking in Matthew 25:34-37, & 40, says,
"34. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35. For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36. Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 40. And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."
Our neighbour is that person that needs our assistance without a link to you. The Levite went to check if he was a 'Neighbour - whom he knew’ not knowing that was the reason God led him to follow that path. You see, that gateman without lunch, that waiter doing dishes and serving you might be the neighbour God is directing you to at a moment. Jesus said I was hungry, naked, homeless, a stranger and you attended to me. As long as you have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. You don't need to identify who the person is before sending help over. Are you that self-centred that it's hard for you to help who you don't know? You are not showcasing Christ but yourself. You are not ready to help a neighbour according to God's instruction. This is the truth, we all have neighbours but refuse to see them as neighbours. Knowing someone is a believer from another denomination so they can't access help, you are that Levite searching for a member in a neighbour. Will you start helping that neighbour in order to render help to God? Will God welcome you with such words “Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:? It's time to help neighbours we don't recognise..
God Bless you and Good Morning.
