TOPIC: WHAT BELONGS TO GOD? Reverence For God (7)

John 3:22 - 36
MEMORY VERSE:
Luke 20:25.
"25. And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's."
BIBLE READING:
Matthew 10:28.
"28. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."
Thinking Point:
God is always before man, not men before God. Fear God above all.
The one who lifts from the dunghill to the peak is turning our lives around this morning. The changer of man's situation is visiting us where the battles seem to be tense today in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
What belongs to God that has been rendered to men again? The Fear Of God, reverence of the Almighty. Seeing men as the final sayer than God who created man. The fear of men has made many lose the purpose of God for their lives. They put their hope in a man that sleeps tonight and never wakes up the next day. The Fear of man controls many that they lack the existence of God. We are to fear the God who can kill the body and the soul and still bring back to life. Many fear their boss more than God. Many fall cheap into the hands of their boss because of the threat of loosening their jobs. The fear of men has made us see ourselves as a subject to people whom God has made to be our object.
The three Hebrew boys said
"16. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." Daniel 3:16-18.
They simply mean, we can't put you before God. We can't fear you and disobey God, we will stick to the God of all heaven who owns our fear not you.
Hear what Apostle Peter said to the High priest and the Pharisees,
"18. And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
19. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." Acts 4:18-20.
Who do you revere more than God? Who do I put before God? Who is that person that stops us from doing God's will? Many fear their spouse, boss, pastors or a blackmailer than God. What belongs to God can't be given to men, No. The Fear of the Lord above all also helps us to run from evil, wickedness and sin. Joseph said to Potiphar's wife “... how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Genesis 39:9. Who do you fear most, God or humans? Fear God above all else.
