TOPIC: WHAT BELONGS TO GOD? Your Body (5)
One Year Bible Reading:
2nd Samuel 20 -21
John 2:1 - 25.
MEMORY VERSE:
Luke 20:25.
"25. And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's."
BIBLE READING:
Romans 12:1.
"1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Thinking Point:
Our bodies belong to God as a living sacrifice, it must be kept Holy.
The hand of the Lord fasts up every delayed progress in our lives today. His mighty hand will lift us for a change in position in Jesus' wonderful name, Amen.
Beloved, I believe we are all getting insight from our devotion this week. We are doing an expository about Jesus's words to the chief priest and the scribes where he said, “Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God”. In the course of this teaching, it has been established that, Worship belongs to God, All accolades such as; Glory, Honour, Blessings, Power belongs to God. We also said our Love belongs to God and lastly, our Thanksgiving belongs to God. Today, as we move further, Our Body belongs to God. Yes, our body, the carrier of our Spirit and soul should be given to God. Apostle Paul speaking in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
"19. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."
Our body belongs to God because without a functioning body we won't be useful for God. Our body, being the carrier of the Holy Spirit in us, needs to be sanctified for God's use. Apostle Paul said in verse 13
"13. .... Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
Our body is for the Lord not to carry out all forms of fornication, like running after harlot, adultery, running after different gods such as; money, prophets, inhaling substances, going after pleasures that can affect our purity. That was why he went further to say,
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, That Ye Present Your Bodies A Living Sacrifice, Holy, Acceptable Unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Our body is to be presented to God daily as a Living Sacrifice, Holy vessel so that it can be acceptable to God as a reasonable service. Many believers render services in the household of God today with a defiled body, body that has been offered to gods and they still want God to see it as a reasonable service, No, not that way. Our body needs to be kept Holy to render an acceptable service to God. Our body belongs to God for living Sacrifice which will be Holy and acceptable. Is your body presentable before God the Father as a reasonable service? Do we place a guide on our body from all sorts of pollution? Do we clean our body in and out or just the outer part? Our body belongs to God for offering reasonable and acceptable sacrifice daily. I pray this morning that the Holy Spirit will enlighten us the more in different ways we dishonour our body from being a living Sacrifice in Jesus Mighty Name, Amen.
