TOPIC: WHAT DISCIPLINE DOES; It Conquers Distraction (2)
BIBLE READING:
Philippians 3:13-14.
"13. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,"
"14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Thinking Point:
The strategy the enemy uses is to distract us from God's purpose for our lives, but through Discipline, we can overcome his devices.
As we step out this new week, we are endowed with all spiritual benefits to prosper in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
Distraction, is another instrument in the hands of the devil to bring failure of purpose in one's life. Attending to meaningless goals, desires or pleasures that has nothing to do with what God has ordained us for are distraction from God and our life purpose. John the Baptist was carried away by interfering with Herod marrying his brother's wife which has nothing to do with his ministry and ended up in prison and was beheaded. When the devil presents us with an assignment that has nothing to do with what God has assigned us, we need to be disciplined to say "No" to him and "Yes" to God.
With discipline we can remain focused and determine to remain on purpose. Apostle Paul had reasons to relax, having achieved more than his predecessors, he accomplished more in winning the gentiles to Christ but he stayed disciplined to remain focused on doing more. He wasn't distracted by his past successes, he kept pursuing. Without discipline, distraction is inevitable. We need discipline to maintain that home, love alone can't maintain it but discipline. We need discipline to maintain that ministry, that purpose destined for us so we won't be distracted by fame, money and pride. Without discipline all of one's accomplishments can be scattered in a short while. Apostle Paul said,
"14. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Identify those distracting tools working against the high calling prize set ahead of you and be disciplined to set them aside. When we identify our purpose in life we should be able to identify what needs to go and what needs to stay, by so doing, we will be able to conquer distractions by being disciplined.
