TOPIC: WHAT DISCIPLINE DOES; It Conquers Greedy (5)
MEMORY VERSE:
Hebrews 12:11.
"11. Now no chastening (Discipline) for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.
BIBLE READING:
1 Timothy 6:6-10.
"6. But godliness with contentment is great gain."
"7. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out."
"8. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content."
"9. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition."
"10. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
Thinking Point:
Indiscipline is the reason for Greediness while Discipline is the source of Generosity.
May we not be a prey of greediness, may we keep living a life of generosity to please God in Jesus Mighty name, Amen
Love for money, wealth, riches and fame is a product of indiscipline. Greediness simply means, "Gather for myself only." "Get more to make me the greatest". "Oppress others to acquire more". Greed makes one do all it takes to get what others has. Greed is, never satisfied with what you have and never release from what you have. You see people going the extra mile to purnish those who stole from them while they kill and destroy others to acquire wealth. Greed makes them ruin others for them to get wealth, it's a sign of lack of discipline. What they always forget is that, when they die, they have no idea of who takes over what they left regardless of their will. Ecclesiastes 2:26, says of the greedy,
"26. For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: BUT TO THE SINNER HE GIVETH TRAVAIL, TO GATHER AND TO HEAP UP, THAT HE MAY GIVE TO HIM THAT IS GOOD BEFORE GOD. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit."
When you are discipline, your desires becomes to give to others (no matter how little) as you earn. You'll always have it in mind that all these wealth belongs to you in order to touch lives. You desire to be blessed to be a blessing not to withhold. When money controls you, every coin means more than a life to you but when you are discipline every lives is more important than your billions. How discipline are you when it comes to acquiring wealth? How do you treat others when it comes to your money? Which is more weighter to you, Money or Human Lives? Discipline is the cure for greed if you will be able to stand by the rules.
