Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 44, Day 4, Wednesday, 30th October 2024 TOPIC: TRUSTING GOD: Involves Obedience (4)
TOPIC: TRUSTING GOD: Involves Obedience (4)
MEMORY VERSE:
Proverbs 3:5-6.
"5. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
"6. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."
BIBLE READING:
Genesis 22:1-3.
"1. And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am."
"2. And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of."
"3. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him."
Thinking Point:
Obedience is a proof of trust. Even when instructions seem stupid or senseless, trust makes you obey it to the latter.
Many are tagged disloyal because of their disobedience. There's no fear In obeying whom you trust. If you can't obey someone it's because you don't trust him. So, the proof of our trust in God is our obedience to every detail He commands us. The level of our trust determines the level of our obedience. In John 2:7-8,
"7. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim."
"8. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it."
Why will the disciples obey Jesus' instructions, after filling the water pot with water, to take it to the governor of the ceremony that this is a wine? Complete trust produces complete obedience. They are not bothered by what they know but what he instructed them to do.
Likewise, Abraham has only one child, Isaac, whom the Lord called a promise child, then God said,
"Take now Thy Son, Thine Only Son Isaac, Whom Thou Lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; And Offer Him There For A Burnt Offering Upon One Of The Mountains Which i will Tell Thee Of.""
What powerful and confusing instructions! I mean, you hear the voice saying, I need that only car of yours, give it to me? Won't you ask, "who is speaking?" "Who are you talking to?" Or "I rebuke that spirit right now". But your level of trust is tested by your obedience. Listen to me, God will not test your trust in Him with valueless things but what is special to you. How far can you go in proving your trust in God through your obedience? The widow of Zarephath's trust was tested with her last meal prepared for Elijah, and she obeyed. What is your level of obedience to God when it comes to your resources? Our trust in God is proofed by our obedience.
