TOPIC: WALKING WITH GOD: Control Over Our Thought (2)
MEMORY VERSE:
Genesis 17:1
"1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless."
BIBLE READING:
2 Corinthian 10:4-5
"4. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,"
"5. casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, Bringing Every Thought Into Captivity To The Obedience Of Christ."
Thinking Point:
The thoughts of our heart have a direct impact on our walk with Jesus.
One of the things the devil uses in bringing people down is the thought in the heart of Men. The thought of a man determines who he/she becomes. You can't grow beyond your thought. When the thought of one's heart is evil, nothing positive can be achieved by such a person. If we will walk with God, we need the battle of the heart to be handled wisely.
King Solomon said,
"7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you." Prov. 23:7.
The thought of our heart defines us better. What are the thoughts going on in our heart? Are your thoughts always pure or impure? Do you think about bringing others down or for others to move forward? When the thought of your heart is bad it will be impossible for you to walk with God, for the scriptures says,
"3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.
When your heart is full of deceit, you can't stand before the Lord. So, as you work on renewing your mind (according to our teaching yesterday) you need to work on what you allow into it also. Every Good person is traceable to the thought of His/her heart and likewise for bad people. To enjoy walking with God, guard the thought that goes through your mind/heart. King Solomon also said, in Proverbs 4:23,
"23. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."
Every issue of life is traceable to the heart. Begin to make your heart pure by thinking right.
Good day and God Bless you.
