TOPIC: Studying John 6:1-15. Why Follow Jesus? (1)
MEMORY VERSE:
John 6:6.
"6. And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do."
BIBLE READING:
John 6:2.
"2. And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased."
Thinking Point:
As believers in our days, many followers of Jesus followed Him for wrong reasons. Why are we following Jesus?
This week will work for us, respond positively in all our endeavours, those doors opened by God will be accessible for us all in Jesus' Most wonderful name, Amen.
Beloved of God, I welcome you to this new series of study of God's word. We shall be digging deep into how Jesus worked on earth and draw some lessons which are applicable to our lives today. Our first focus today is "Why are we following Jesus?" What's our motive for following Jesus, is it Miracles, healing, fame etc, why are we following Him? Our scriptures said,
"And A Great Multitude Followed Him, Because They Saw His Miracles Which He Did On Them That Were Diseased."
Why are we following Jesus? These sets of people followed Jesus when He was alive because of those miracles He performed on the diseased but why should we follow Him today? Not because of the miracles anymore, but because He is Our Saviour, our deliverer, our only hope of survival, yes not just for miracles and healing. We are to follow Jesus because we are sure He is our link back to God, our real source. The reasons why many moved from church to church is because of Miracles not because of Jesus our saviour. Do you know that following Jesus can bring Healing wherever you are, your home not excluded? Jesus was a walking human then, He's seen performing wonders all around. Now, He is everywhere at every time, no need looking for him from churches to churches, nations to nations, He is right there beside you. We need to follow Jesus for the right purpose so as to enjoy Him better. The disciples were called to follow Him to become a fishers of men, but now, we are a carrier of Jesus in us, we should be a sign that direct men to Jesus not following Jesus for miracles, no, we should reflect Jesus, who we're following as our saviour. Why are you following Jesus? Why are you going to church today? For miracles, healings, blessing or worshiping your saviour? Take a deep thought on this.
Good Morning and God bless you.
