TOPIC: QUALITIES OF KING SOLOMON: He Sacrificed At The Best Place (3)
MEMORY VERSE:
2 Samuel 12:24
And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: AND THE LORD LOVED HIM.
BIBLE READING:
1 Kings 3:3-4
"4. And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar."
Thinking Point:
Sacrificing at the right place matters to God. Sacrifice may be pleasant but sacrificed at the wrong place, to the wrong person or at the wrong time.
It is my prayer this morning that we will not offer sacrifices that will work against us in Jesus' Mighty name, Amen.
The Bible is filled with many sacrifices that destroy the offeree. The likes of Cain, King Saul, King Jeroboam, and many kings after King Solomon did offer sacrifice that ended their lives or brought destruction upon them. It's not about offering sacrifice, it is offering it in the right way and at the right place. No priest instructed Solomon to give this sacrifice, it was intentional and He also decided on which altar the sacrifice would be offered.
The Bible said,
"4. And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; For That Was The Great High Place..."
He searched for the greatest High place that befits God. The best of all altars which will please God and he went there with the best of his burnt offerings, if I may ask, where do we make our sacrifices, anywhere or where God needs it the most? Some will go elsewhere to give their testimony when God did answer their prayers in their present Church. Some will leave their spiritual father, who has been labouring over them spiritually, and seek to bless other ministers. Solomon didn't go out of Israel, his kingdom, to honour God, he honoured Him with his sacrifice in the same Israel where God placed him as king. He never went to other gods but the real God who appointed him to replace his father. Where do you take your sacrifices to? Who do you honour with what belongs to God, bar, club, hotel, or to those who never care about your survival? Listen to me, your highest altar is the Church you belong to, that same man/woman you run to during difficult times, that person that helped you survive when others let you down. Where is your great high place to give God the best sacrifice? Solomon searched for the best place to honour God and He did honour Him and God recognised it. When God answers your prayers, where do you go first? Your spouse or that joint? Your church or your caucus? Locate your great highest place to offer God the best of your seeds, not all ground is fertile for every seed, locate yours today and offer the best of your sacrifice to Honour God.
