Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 48, Day 6, Friday, 29th November 2024 TOPIC: QUALITIES OF KING SOLOMON: Solomon Portray Humility In His Word (6)

TOPIC: QUALITIES OF KING SOLOMON: Solomon Portray Humility In His Word (6)

MEMORY VERSE:
2 Samuel 12:24
And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: AND THE LORD LOVED HIM.

BIBLE READING:
1 Kings 3:7-8
"7. And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in."
"8. And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude."

Thinking Point:
There's a tiny line between Pride and Faith. Arrogance is synonymous to Pride while Humility is a proof of Faith.

As the week ends today, our remaining portion will not elude us, what God has begun in our lives will be perfected this week in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.

We are studying another attribute of Solomon which is Humility. Humility isn't gentility or foolishness. Humility is seeing yourself as God sees you and seeing others as God sees them. Meaning, you don't look down on who you are nor rate others lower than who God made them to be. Humility before God is presenting yourself as a dear son in a responsible way, putting aside what you know, who you are and what you have while speaking to God. Many would have been lifted by the Lord but their shoulders are always high even before God of all the earth, like my pastor will always put it, "they have unseen boils in their armpit that makes their shoulders high", that is pride in high esteem. Pride brings one down below his/her present level while humility takes one beyond his/her intended level in life. Remember what Apostle James said in, James 4:6,
"6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, GOD RESISTETH THE PROUD, BUT GIVETH GRACE UNTO THE HUMBLE."
The humble is always made ready for the top.

King Solomon was the new King of Israel in the place of his father, David, but he presented himself as a nobody before God. He said,
"7. ... and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in."
"8. And thy servant..."

He saw Himself as "a little child, as a servant", when last did you see yourself that way before God? Mostly we believe, we are Pastors, Reverend, Bishop, Master of Slaves, Boss, Superior and still carry this mentality to the presence of God Almighty. Some do what they dare not do to their boss in the presence of God. Pride has taken over many to the extent of saying, "Do you know who I am?" The best response is, "You are a dust", finish. Solomon put aside his kingship position and presented himself as "a little boy". Because you are the bread winner of your home, you think that made you the authority of your home? It might be pride Mr. Man, be humble before God humbles you. How do you present yourself to God, for that job or in your family? How humble are you, judge your humility with that of Solomon, what is your rating? How humble am I, and how humble are you?

Good Morning and God bless you.
