Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 45, Day 4, Wednesday, 6th November 2024 TOPIC: GOD'S COMPENSATION: Selfless Request (4)
TOPIC: GOD'S COMPENSATION: Selfless Request (4)
MEMORY VERSE:
Joel 2:25.
"25. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you."
BIBLE READING:
1 Kings 3:9-13.
"9. Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?"
"10. And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing."
"11. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;"
"12. Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee."
"13. And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days."
Thinking Point:
God compensates selfless and genuine requests tabled before Him for He knows the thought of our hearts.
A pleasant day to everyone, the Lord that sees our heart will compensate every genuine request in Jesus' Mighty name, Amen.
We are studying King Solomon's experience of God's compensation. It's a well known story. After he was crowned the king, the scripture made it known, he went to Gibeon, for that was the greatest place as at then to sacrifice to God. He made such sacrifices that no one has ever made to the God of heaven before him, and at night, God visited him in his dream. I want us to quickly get this point before moving forward, every genuine sacrifice attracts God's presence, and when He is present, He can't leave you without compensation. When our sacrifice is normal, we enjoy normal miracles but when we go beyond normal with our sacrifice, we enjoy God that's above normal, that was the case of King Solomon. He wasn't a priest or a prophet but God visited Him because of a genuine sacrifice.
Let's continue our study. When God visited him, He placed an open cheque before Him,
"... and God said, Ask what I shall give thee? 1 Kings 3:5.
Solomon wasn't selfish like the leaders we have in our various countries and churches this day. He never asked for car, wealth, or riches. Not fame or protection for himself. He was a womanizer, he never ask for woman of every race but He said,
"Give therefore thy servant an UNDERSTANDING HEART TO JUDGE THY PEOPLE, THAT I MAY DISCERN BETWEEN GOOD AND BAD: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?"
Wow! What a request from a King after God's own heart. When we have the mind that cares for God's people, compensation is our portion. When the shepherd cares genuinely for the flock it brings increase, this is the compensation we are talking about. God compensated King Solomon for asking for what pleases Him and not pleasurable things. God said,
"And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days"
This is the compensation aspect from God. When you are selfless and care for others, (am not against caring for one's self) God compensates you with what you need without asking. When your requests go beyond "I, Me and My" you are ready for God's compensation. How often do you remember others in your prayers and sacrifice? How often do you care for the things of God? This can enhance God's compensation upon your life. Care genuinely and selflessly and God will reward you with what matters most to you.
Good day and God Bless you.
