Mobile Daily Devotional with Pst. Oluboye Emmanuel Week 49, Day 2, Monday, 2nd December 2024 TOPIC: QUALITIES OF KING SOLOMON: Request Granted 1 (9)
TOPIC: QUALITIES OF KING SOLOMON: Request Granted 1 (9)
MEMORY VERSE:
2 Samuel 12:24
And David comforted Bathsheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon: AND THE LORD LOVED HIM.
BIBLE READING:
1 Kings 3:11-12.
"11. And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;"
"12. Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee."
Thinking Point:
The qualities we possess and use wisely determines the response of God to the request tabled before Him.
This week, our qualities will move God on our behalf, it will touch men to favour and fulfil God's purpose in our lives in Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen.
Last week, we listed qualities in the life of Solomon which made God search for him. We talked about His Love for God, Sacrificial heart, knowing How and Where to give his best to God, He possesses wisdom, A heart of Gratitude, Humility and Selfless attitude. These seven attitudes drew the attention of God to young King Solomon. And God presented him with an open cheque of, "What do you want from me?" With the wisdom of God he tabled a selfless request and God was amazed the more, and these made God granted all, I mean, all his requests.
May I say this, those qualities, attributes or virtues we possess and use wisely can hasten the response to our request before God. Do we remember Hannah's virtue? It was sacrificial. Abraham was faith. Zachariah was service, David was sincerity in confession of sins, and many more. Brethren, what virtue do you possess and use wisely to the glory of God that can hasten the responses to your request? It's not about praying but how we relate with men and God, how we function with the virtue of God in us. Your virtue may be wealth or opportunity to help others, how are you using it? Yours might be to pray for others, train others, to encourage or give advice but how are you using it? Are you using it to make money by frustrating others? Is selfishness not your other name? What virtue can God behold on you and release the responses to your request? God said,
"12. Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee." meaning, nothing was missing from all his requests. When God blesses you with substance and all you could do is to make others inferior, show partiality or favour your family alone, your request might not reach the presence of God for consideration. Judge yourself, can your spouse grant your request with quarreling? Can your parents release what you asked them without thinking twice? Even as a Pastor, can your members respond to your request without asking, "Daddy, what do you want to use it for again?" How do you make use of the virtue/opportunity given to you by God? All these determine the delay or quick responses of God to your prayers. It's time to think about what we do to others and how we value resources more than God the giver.
Good Morning and God bless you.
