TOPIC: CAUSES OF DELAY: Disobedience

One Year Bible Reading:
Judges 14 - 16, Luke 13 : 22 - 35

MEMORY VERSE:
Deuteronomy 1:6.
"6. The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:"

BIBLE READING:
Genesis 16:15-16 - 17: 1.
"15. And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called his son's name, which Hagar bare, Ishmael."
"16. And Abram was fourscore and six years old, when Hagar bare Ishmael to Abram."
"1. And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect."

Thinking Point:
Delay can be a product of disobedience to God's instructions and directives.

I welcome you to this new week in Jesus' mighty name, Amen. This week our focus shall be on the word, "Delay" which has been a tool that hinders the manifestation of God's glory upon believers. Delay has taken the better part of many people’s lives leaving them with little or no time to enjoy God's purpose over their lives.

The first cause of delay is disobedience to God's instructions. Believers experience delay as a result of disobeying God's directive, this may be by not moving as He directs or choose to move at one's timing. When the children of Israelite left Egypt with the presence of God going with them, they experienced delay as a result of disobedience, they chose to respond to fear instead of obeying God's instructions and God changed their forty (40) days journey to forty (40) years journey.

Abraham also walked in disobedience to God which cost him dearly. His disobedience to God's instructions to wait for the promised child, Isaac, made him welcome Sarah's idea to have Ismail. This caused a break of thirteen (13) silence between God and Abraham. Imagine what would have happened if Ismail wasn't born and Abraham had obeyed God within those years. He would have had Isaac before the age of hundred (100) years.

Many of us remain where we are because of little disobedience to God's instructions. We prayed and fasted again and again but refused to give in to those instructions. We wanted a better or easier life than what He wanted us to do. We desire the ways of others, doing what they do, neglecting what God has instructed us to do and by doing so we prolong our stay in delay. I pray today, may our eyes be open to that which God wants us to do and respond totally in Jesus’ name, Amen. May we be willing to do as He says and start as He instructed in Jesus' name, Amen.

You can ask yourself, am I being obedient to God's instructions over my life? Am I not the reason for the delay I am experiencing? May we identify where we missed it this week, Amen
