Mobile Daily Devotional with Oluboye Emmanuel Week 17, Day 2, Monday, 21st April 2025 TOPIC: TYPES OF MENTALITY: Fact Driving Mentality (2)
TOPIC: TYPES OF MENTALITY: Fact Driving Mentality (2)
One Year Bible Reading:
1 Samuel 14 - 15, Luke 19: 1 - 43.
MEMORY VERSE:
Philippians 4:8.
"8. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
BIBLE READING:
Numbers 13:31-33.
"31. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we."
"32. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature."
"33. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."
Thinking Point:
When we are moved by what we see we can't enjoy what God has in plan for us.
Faith driving mentality has its opposite which is Fact driving mentality. "Until I see with my own eyes I can't believe it". "This is the fact on the ground, I work with it not what I can't see". This mentality hinders one's progress in God and all ramification. Apostle Paul says, in 2 Corinthians 4:18,
“18. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
This mentality of “seeing is believing” has restricted many from enjoying what God has for us. The ten (10) spies held onto what they saw, not what God could do. They came with a discouraging report and the multitude believed their report which led them to be discouraged. This mentality, if looked into critically, it's a product of fear of the unknown. Another aspect of the fact mentality is that it's more acceptable than faith driving mentality. People tend to believe it more than what they can't see.
In 2 Kings 7, Prophet Elisha declared by faith what the Lord was about to do but the right hand man of The king said, "how can it be possible with the situation of things" that was fact driving mentality in action. But what God says will always come to pass.
Which fold do you belong, Fact driving or faith driving mentality? We all know how it ended ten (10) spies. It stops one's movement and brings stagnation. What mentality governs your life and day? Check it and make an amendment today.
Good morning, and God bless you.
