Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 19, Day 5, Thursday, 8th May 2025 TOPIC: LESSONS FROM SAUL AND DAVID: Speak For God (5)

TOPIC: LESSONS FROM SAUL AND DAVID: Speak For God (5)

One Year Bible Reading:
1 King 1, John 4 : 1 - 26.

MEMORY VERSE:
Matthew 11:12.
"12. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force."

BIBLE READING:
1 Samuel 17:26.
"26. And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?"

Thinking Point:
Wherever you are, you are there to defend and speak for God in your little way.

Yesterday, we said wherever we are, there's a problem or situation we are met to solve which determines how fast we change our location for the next assignment. Today, I want to let us know that we are to defend God with our actions, behaviour and resources. Anywhere we are that we can't stand or speak for God, that means we are not representing Christ enough. When you are in a location and nobody sees Christ in you or calls you names for the sack of Christ, you need to check yourself up.

David was a seventy years old boy who spoke out against Goliath, a warrior from his youth. David couldn't hide his love and reference for God. He wasn't carried away because of the gift promised by the King, No, he was speaking up for God. He asked, "for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?"

He couldn't bear the insult of Goliath on God. He couldn't keep his mouth shut. Do you shut your mouth when God is defied? Do you resist any attempt to disregard God where you are?

The three Hebrew boys did the same. They told the king,
"16. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter."
"17. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king."
"18. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up." Daniel 3:16-18.

Do we have this courage to speak up for God? When you speak up for Him, He steps in to defend you. When you announce Him to the world He backs you up. It's time to speak up our faith in the face of challenges and opposition. If we are truly the sons and daughters of God, we should reflect it by speaking up for Him in any circumstances. Do we defend God or excuse ourselves when God is insulted?
