TOPIC: KNOWING JESUS: Don't Be Judgemental (10)
One Year Bible Reading:
2 Chronicles 5 -7, Acts 2 : 1 - 21.
MEMORY VERSE:
Daniel 11:32
"32. .... but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits."
BIBLE READING:
John 11:19-20.
"19. And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. 20. Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. 21. Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died."
Thinking Point:
Always listen before passing judgement on others for their actions.
Many times we go through pains for reactions and attitudes of trusted friends and loved ones towards us. We find it difficult to reason why such persons reacted the way they did. In response, we choose to neglect or sideline them without asking the reasons behind their actions. We concluded they are bad people who cared less of our well being. We begin to distance ourselves from them without thoroughly asking or making enquiries for their action. We avoid coming in contact with them by all means with the mindset of being wicked. We judge them before hearing their part and tag them names they are not. It is time to stop being judgemental because it can hinder what rightly belongs to us.
When Martha heard about Jesus's arrival, she ran to meet Him while Mary concluded that Jesus didn't care about them. Remember, it was the same Mary who sat at Jesus' feet while Martha was cooking when Jesus visited them, and Jesus said Mary was doing the needful while Martha was too busy doing the unneedful, Luke 10:38-42. Martha refused to judge Jesus, she ran to welcome Him despite her losses. Brethren, when we blame others for our situation without asking why they weren't there when we needed them, we may be building a barricade against ourselves. We need to develop an approach to handle such situations by asking, "I hope all is well, I didn't see you as promised?" "Oh I missed your presence, I know something came up, if not, you would have been by my side". Martha ran to Jesus and said,
"Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died."
She was composed to approach Jesus, no judgemental statement. She declared to Jesus how they missed Him and not by jacking His robe to ask a series of questions, "Why are you here?" "We sent for you but you refuse to respond, he is dead now what are you looking for?", No, always give the room that everyone has what they are going through. They have their lives to live while attending to you. Stop being judgemental and ask questions. Listen before you conclude on others' attitudes.
