Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 26, Day 4, Wednesday, 25th June, 2025 TOPIC: ASKING, SEEKING AND KNOCKING: Boasting For Helping (4)

TOPIC: ASKING, SEEKING AND KNOCKING: Boasting For Helping (4)

One Year Bible Reading:
Nehemiah 1 - 3, Acts 11: 19 - 30.

MEMORY VERSE:
Matthew 7:7.
"7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:"

BIBLE READING:
Matthew 6:1-4.
"1. Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. 2. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 3. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4. That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly."

Thinking Point:
Letting people know you helped others brings the praise of men but denies you your godly reward.

Many times we often tell people what we did, how we helped people, what we gave them, or how they begged and how we put smile on their faces not as honouring God but to earn the praise of men and downgrade others, let me tell you this, you have earned your reward, God isn't owning you any reward again. When you boast about your seeds or generosity you are telling God, I prefer the praise of men than your reward. Many will help someone and make it a topic in the gathering of friends. Some will be boasting, "I bought that for him, I did that for her, if not me, you will be in the gutter by now", sorry, Mr/Mrs philanthropy, always remember you were once helped before you get to where you are today.

Jesus was teaching His disciples about giving, and He said, let your alms: giving of food, clothes, seeds, help, assistance, be done in secret, don't proclaim to all what you did for others.
"3. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4. That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly."

Let your alms, no matter the number of your gifts, let it be done in secret, "let not your right hand", meaning your closest friend, know what you did for others. When you begin to announce, it is called boasting, pride, and Jesus said, when that is done no reward for such a person. God only rewards giving that is done in secret, not giving linked to boasting. He said our father who sees in secret will reward us openly. We don't need to humiliate others because we responded to their needs, let it be done in secret without anyone knowing. Our politicians will announce their giving when in actual fact they are only giving 0.01% of the people rights to them and they call it "giving back to the people" stop deceiving people God will judge you all. Let your giving be genuine and be in secret, not boasting or humiliating others but solving problems wholeheartedly, and the Lord who sees your heart will reward you abundantly in due season.

Good morning, and God bless you.
