TOPIC: FAITHFULNESS Precedes FULFILMENT: Obedience (1)

Nehemiah 9:7-8
"7. You are the lord God, who chose Abram and brought him from Ur of the Chaldeans and renamed him Abraham. 8. When he had proved himself faithful, you made a covenant with him to give him and his descendants the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Jebusites, and Girgashites. And you have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word."
BIBLE READING:
Genesis 12:1, 4.
"1. Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 4. So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran."
Thinking Point:
The first key to promised fulfilment is total obedience to God's instructions.
It's my pleasure to welcome you to this new week. We bless the Lord for all the blessings He has bestowed on us throughout this month, may His name be exalted forever more in Jesus name, Amen.
This week, the Lord will be speaking to us on the topic "Faithfulness Precedes Fulfilment of God's Promises". God is a covenant keeping God. He loves us so much that He never keeps His promises away from us. He makes His mind known to us. He reveals His purpose to us to walk with. But we need to know that, for Him to fulfill His promises in our lives we have to prove ourselves faithful in so many ways. Everything God will do starts with instructions and ends with instructions. The first key to prove our faithfulness to God is the key of obedience. Hearing and carrying out His instructions. Following what He instructed us to do precedes what He will do. Obedience to whatever He says proves that we are ready for what He has promised. Most times we hear His promises and we are eager to get them but there are a series of tests to earn what Him promises. We move around with the promises but neglect to prove ourselves faithful to receive the promises.
Abraham passed the test of obedience which was to leave His father's country but failed to obey totally by taking Lot, his nephew, with him. So he couldn't move to the next step in the path to promises fulfilment. Until Lot left Abram in Genesis 13:14, then He completed the first step of faithfulness. Most times we held onto what God wanted us to let go of for us to be obedient totally. Until we let go of that which God instructed us to leave behind we may not move to the next stage of faithfulness in our work with God. Our memory verse said,
"8. When he had proved himself faithful, you made a covenant with him, ....And you have done what you promised, for you are always true to your word."
Until we prove ourselves faithful in our walk with God we will never get to the level of receiving His promises. May we get it right by walking faithfully in all His instructions.
