Thinking Point:
Anger isn't a sin but uncontrolled anger can lead to sin.
Anger is a sign of displeasure to an occurrence or attitude. You get angry when things aren't done the way you wanted it or instructed. Anger is not wrong in itself but it becomes abnormal when it lasts longer than expected. Anger that is out of control can lead to many acts such as fighting, destruction, murder, malice, hatred, bitterness and depression. Such anger is ungodly. Uncontrolled anger is not meant for believers, it shouldn't be seen amongst us. Anger isn't a sin but when it goes beyond control it becomes a sin, when one can't let go of offences it leads to anger then it turns to sin. With the present situation in the world today, anger has become a norm in our homes, streets, schools, market places and even in our worship centres which is against the will of God.
Apostle Paul is admonishing us to stay away from uncontrolled anger which leads to sin. Continuous anger is a sin, when you can't let one's hurt go you are walking into sin. When you go to bed with anger, sin is knocking at your step. Remember Cain in Genesis 4, the scripture said,
"5. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. 6. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7. If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him."
When you are angry for a cause beware, because sin is closer to you than you ever think. Cain couldn't control his anger and it led to the killing of his blood brother, Abel. How do you handle anger? Do you go to bed with it or do you let them go and move on? Uncontrolled anger is a sin and unforgiveness is also a sin. Learn to control your anger as a believer and you will avoid sinning to God. Get angry, face the issue head on and be ready to let go regardless of the outcome of the confrontation. By doing so, you will be free from sin.
Good morning, and God bless you.
