TOPIC: CROSSING TO THE OTHER SIDE: Plan For A Nap (4)

One Year Bible Reading:
Psalms 49 - 51, Romans 5: 1 - 11.

MEMORY VERSE:
Deuteronomy 2:2-3
"2. “Then at last the lord said to me, 3. ‘You have been wandering around in this hill country long enough; turn to the north."

BIBLE READING:
Luke 8:23
23 As they sailed across, Jesus settled down for a nap..."

Thinking Point:
Create time for rest, even God had a rest after six hectic days.

Pursuing our dreams and vision in life shouldn't take away time for relaxation or rest. It can be called a vacation, a nap or resting period. According to the saying, "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy", yes, all work without a rest, nap or vacation makes one worn out of fresh ideas and physical appearance. One of the easiest ways to get ideas is when you take a nap, excuse yourself for a while to refresh your mind and body in order to gain new strength for productivity. Yes, we want to make it, achieve it faster, meet up with those who have gone ahead of us but we need to make time for ourselves including our co-like-minded people. When God was creating the world, He did rest from His work Genesis 2, but till date, our God is still at work but the rest was needed in order to clearly see better and know the best strategy to take next. Taking a rest isn't a sign of laziness or quitting but a sign to be refreshed.

Before Jesus told His disciples to "cross over to the other side" they've been performing miracles on the other side, they've been working from one village to the other without resting. But it got to a time when Jesus needed to relax his body and mind. He took a nap, rested, and slept in the boat while others were conscious of the water. When you give yourself rest you become better than those you are leading and see farther than they see. Also when you allow your co-runners to rest they become more productive when they resume. Let them spend time with their families and friends. Give them a break to experience time out of work, not just work and work everyday. Jesus rested and was deep in it to the extent that He never felt what they were going through until they woke Him up. Give yourself some rest, the journey ahead is too long to overwork yourself. When Elijah was going on a journey he sent himself, running from Jezebel, the Lord sent an angel, although the Lord was not happy with him, who fed him twice and allowed him to rest, 1 Kings 19. If we refuse to take a nap our body will claim a nap forcefully which wouldn't be a good one. It's better to plan for a nap than to forcefully take a rest. Jesus rested when He needed to renew His strength and idea, apply the same to your life.

Good morning, and God bless you.
