TOPIC: Why Going To Church?: To Serve God (4)
One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 116 - 118, 1 Corinthians 5.
MEMORY VERSE:
Psalm 122:1
“1. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.”
BIBLE READING:
Exo. 23:25-27
“25. “So you shall serve the LORD your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. 26. No one shall suffer miscarriage or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days. 27. “I will send My fear before you, I will cause confusion among all the people to whom you come, and will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.”
Thinking Point:
Church is a place to render services to God with our talents and gifts.
Today, may the fresh dew of heaven rest upon us and we go to our places of work in Jesus name, Amen.
The fourth point on "why going to church" is to serve God. Serving God is one of the paramount reasons for being in God's presence. If anyone wouldn't serve God, who would be in His sanctuary to minister to us? God has called us to service. He wants us to serve Him with our talents and gifts in His sanctuary. In the Ten Commandment the first commandment says,
"5. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;" - Exodus 20:5.
When it comes to serving God nothing else should come before us. The best place to serve Him is in? the church. Everyone was created uniquely with diverse gifts in order to serve God diligently.
He sent Moses to Pharaoh, saying,
Exo. 4:22-23,
"22. Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Israel is My son, My firstborn. 23. So I say to you, let My son go that he may serve Me. But if you refuse to let him go, indeed I will kill your son, your firstborn.”
Serving God entails being committed in His presence, being a blessing to people in the house of God. Assisting the servants of God in our little way for him to be more focused on hearing from God and preaching God's word.
Serving God has its blessings attached to it, blessing on bread and water, divine health, no miscarriage and life preservation. So therefore, appearing in the house of God without service is like not attending the church at all.
Which department do you belong to? How have you been a blessing to others? Do you attend church activities without service? Be a serving member in your church, relieve others by joining a department or unit in your church, that is one of the reasons you are in the church.
Good morning, and God bless you.
