TOPIC: Hindrances In Church: Being A Hearer And A Doer (3)
One Year Bible Reading:
Psalm 139 - 141
1 Corinthians 10: 14 - 11.
MEMORY VERSE:
Psalm 122:1
“1. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.”
BIBLE READING:
Eccl. 5:1
“1. Keep your foot [give your mind to what you are doing] when you go [as Jacob to sacred Bethel] to the house of God. For to draw near to hear and obey is better than to give the sacrifice of fools [carelessly, irreverently] too ignorant to know that they are doing evil.” Amplified
Thinking Point:
There can't be a different result when you hear God's word and don't act accordingly.
When we appear before God and have nothing to show for it, it means we are not a doer of God's word. Many Christians have seen church service as a routine not sacred, making it hard for them to receive from God. Many believe in sacrifice rather than doing what the Word of God says. Yes, sacrifice to God is important but knowing and walking in His word is more important to God.
The story of the seed sower in Math. 13:3-9 best describes many believers in our generation. We hear the word but don't apply it to our lives. Who are you in God's presence? Do you hear God's word and apply it to your life or do you hear for hearing sake?
King Solomon said, “... For to draw near to hear and obey is better than to give the sacrifice of fools [carelessly, irreverently] too ignorant to know that they are doing evil.” How often do you apply what you hear in God's presence? Do you see it as God speaking to you or the man exposing your weaknesses? Listen, God won't descend to tell you what to change in your life, He will always send someone to reveal it to you. Every man of God is sent to reveal God's mind concerning our lives. Be the hearer and doer of God's word. When your life remains the same for many years and you've been attending church services, check if you've been doing the word. What makes a difference in our lives is the word of God we apply, not the word we’ve been hearing without following. So therefore, to get the best in your church you need to be a hearer and a doer of God's word, either it is against you or it's in your favour, be the doer. God's word always comes to clean us, not to leave us the way it met us.
Good morning, and God bless you.
