Bible Reading:
James 4:6
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Thinking Point:
Pride is irritating to God. No matter how Holy we are, God resists the proud.
Today, may the Lord fill your heart with joy everlasting from His presence in Jesus’Mighty Name, Amen.
Still proceeding on the hindrances to receiving from God's presence. Our focus today is what I call Pride, being too proud, full of one’s self even before God. Believers always cross the line between faith and pride, walking in pride and claiming it to be faith. Let's clear this first, every man has an atom of pride, like seeing ourselves above others, but there's a level it becomes irritating, glaring and conspicuous. When you think money should bring honour not age, that position should attract more honour from everyone including your parents, that is pride. When you believe money should bring a spiritual position and determine the final say in the house of God, it's a sign of pride. When you look at others as beggars because you have more than they do, it's pride. When all your subordinates see you as God who can't be spoken to, pride has taken over. When parents have no say or receive honour from you, pride is in charge of your life.
Apostle James said, “God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble”, no matter the prayerful a proud man is it can't go beyond the ceiling of the church because God is resisting such believers. The scripture said in Proverbs 16:18,
“18. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
To be full of pride is to be far from God and stay closer to destruction. When God resists a man, he is far from being safe and exposed to destruction, may we not end up in destruction in Jesus name, Amen.
Proverbs 29:23
“23. A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.”
King Solomon said pride brings one low, it makes the proud go down the drain and the humble are lifted up and honoured by God. Without humility in the presence of God no one can receive from God Almighty.
How proud are you? You don't give respect to anyone, your parents, spouse, pastors, colleagues or your boss? God will attend to such believers until they work on themselves. Check inward to see if you are too proud and have no regard for God.
Good morning, and God bless you.
