Happy new week and Happy last day of the month of August, all of our blessings will be delivered before the month runs out in Jesus name, Amen.
This week our focus is shifting to the shepherd and the sheep. Yes, the connection between the two and how the flow should be. We are all students of the Bible and we are all familiar with Psalms 23. I know we can recite it from verse one to the last verse without a missing word. But God showed me something that I want to share with you this week. The first verse says,
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."
Many of us read this verse often without asking ourselves the question, "am i a sheep of the shepherd? Am I qualified to be led by the shepherd? Am I being led by the shepherd? The verse should be Parashar this way,
"1. The LORD is my shepherd; - so therefore, because I am his sheep, - I shall not want."
The writer of this Psalm was very sure of his stand with the shepherd before documenting this. David was a sheep who was available to be led by the shepherd. He wasn't a goat who led himself to wherever he wanted. A shepherd can only lead the sheep, not the goat. Many are living in poverty till date because they are not sheep to be led by the shepherd, they are goats who want things done in their own way. No matter the number of times we read Psalms 23, if we remain a goat, lack will be the order of the day. When we refuse to harken to God's leading want can't be erased. The Lord is our shepherd if only we are His sheep.
This is my question for you today, are you a sheep or a goat? Hope your lack is not as a result of leading yourself instead of God leading you?
Let's continue tomorrow as we see what proves if we are a goat or a sheep. Till then remember us in your prayers and keep sharing this devotion.
Good morning, and God bless you.
