TOPIC: OUR RESPONSE TO GOD: Instructed According to Expertise.
One Year Bible Reading:
Proverbs 27 - 28,
2 Corinthians 10 :1 - 18.
MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 20:20.
"20. ... Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper."
BIBLE READING:
Matthew 17:24-27.
"24. And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? 25. He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? 26. Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. 27. Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.
Thinking Point:
God won't instruct you outside for expertise, He instructions us according to our assignment.
The hand of the Lord shall not depart from all our endeavours this week in Jesus name, Amen.
Yesterday, we saw how Apostle Peter countered Jesus' instructions but still went ahead to obey Him. Then he wasn't as sure as to what Jesus can do, who He was and why He should obey Him. Many of us are still at this level whereby we trust God less of what He can do. We share others' testimony, speak of what God is doing in and for them but we find it difficult to believe that it can happen to us. Because of this mindset many don't believe in miracles and in men of God. This is one of the hindrances to receiving from God.
In our study today we are seeing a new Apostle Peter who has walked with Jesus, knows Him better and knows what He could do. In this situation, Peter was asked why their master wasn't a task payer and Jesus heard their conversation and sent Peter with definite instruction,
"Go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee."
Beloved, God won't instruct us to do what we are not capable of. He won't send us out of our expertise. His instructions will always be inline with our assignment. Peter was once a Fisherman, he knew the use of hooks and how to use them. Secondly, the first time he met Jesus was on the sea struggling for fish for a living, then he had no idea of who Jesus was. Now Peter knew what Jesus could do so he never argued or questioned his instructions, he turned and left for the sea. God is not wicked to give us instructions that seem too hard or difficult. He did that because He knows our ability which we may not know like Gideon. Peter walking with God cleared his doubt about the ability of Jesus Christ. We, walking with God for years, should impact our obedience to His word and not disobey Him.
Good morning, and God bless you.
