Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 37, Day 5, Thursday, 11th September, 2025 TOPIC: OUR RESPONSE TO GOD: Can Deny Us His Promises. (3)

TOPIC: OUR RESPONSE TO GOD: Can Deny Us His Promises. (3)

One Year Bible Reading:
Proverbs 29 - 31
2 Corinthians 11 :1 - 15.

MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 20:20.
"20. ... Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper."

BIBLE READING:
2 Kings 7:1-2.
"1. Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. 2. Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof."

Thinking Point:
Our response to God's prophecies can deny, delay or grant us access to His blessing.

The blessings of the Lord precedes our going out and coming in today in Jesus name, Amen.
God does speak via instructions before every of His acts. He expects us to respond positively in order to bring His promises to pass. Every act of God is as a result of a positive response to God's directives, instructions or leading. In fact, every word of God is an instruction that's meant to end in a miracle, testimony and change of situation. But when we respond negatively it denies or delays God's fulfilment of His promises.

Prophet Elisha declared the mind of God concerning the famine in the Land of Israel. Remember that what God says is what He's ready to do. God has made up His mind to do it regardless of what we say, but it can be delayed or one can be denied the fulfillment if we respond negatively. When Elisha made the mind of God known, a right hand man of the King objected and responded that it can't be even if God opens all the windows in Heaven. He was so physically controlled that he limited God's power to man's power. He felt the situation was too bad to be changed in some hours but he was so wrong about it because what God says is what He will do.

Then Elisha replied to him,
"And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof."

When next we hear the promises of God ours is to accept it, believe it and be expectant of it, not to object or respond negatively to it. The prophecy was fulfilled but he was not able to partake of it according to the words of Prophet Elisha. What has always been your response to God's prophecy? Doubting it or believing it? What God says can't be changed except we are not ready to partake of it. I once told someone, you don't need to doubt it, all you need to do is to hear it and expect it to be fulfilled. Heaven was opened, both doors and windows of Heaven and God met the needs of his people but the outspoken man was excluded. When those promises will be established according to the word of the Lord, you and I shall not miss it, we will not be denied nor delayed in Jesus name, Amen. Always respond positively to God's prophesy even when it doesn't look like it.
