Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 37, Day 7, Saturday, 13th September, 2025 TOPIC: OUR RESPONSE TO GOD: Be Positive (5)
TOPIC: OUR RESPONSE TO GOD: Be Positive (5)
One Year Bible Reading:
Ecclesiastes 3 - 5,
2 Corinthians 12 :1 - 21.
MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 20:20.
"20. ... Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper."
BIBLE READING:
Luke 1:30-31, 34-35, 37-38.
"30. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
"34. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35. And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
"37. For with God nothing shall be impossible. 38. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her."
Thinking Point:
A positive response to God makes His promises possible without regret.
May the hand of God grant us rest in all our endeavours today and forevermore in Jesus Name, Amen.
Every patriarch of faith in the Bible are men who responded positively to God's given instructions. Many also doubted Him or responded negatively which led to many consequences still affecting the world today. But some responded positively which brought light to the world. When one responds positively to God's instructions it paves way for ease in carrying out those promises of God. When Jonah responded negatively to God's instructions, he ended in the belly of a whale, Jonah 1. When Abraham responded negatively to God's instructions about a child it ended with Ismail, we still suffer the consequences till date, Genesis 16. Moses responded positively after much persuasion, he led the Israelites out of the land of Egypt, Exodus 12 - 14. When we respond to God's assignment, instructions, guidance and correction positively it brings positive results without delay and with ease.
Mary was a virgin in her days who had never known a man. She was in a courtship with Joseph but still a virgin. The angel of the Lord visited her with an information which looks abominable, to be with a child by the Holy spirit without a man, how do you explain this to the world? How would you explain to your fiance that I am pregnant by the Holy Spirit? What will her parents say about her? But in all, Mary responded positively to this big and confusing assignment by saying, "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; BE IT UNTO ME ACCORDING TO THY WORD."
What a positive response, "Be it unto me according to your word", can anyone repeat this by saying, "Father let it be unto me according to your word and promises".
The angel wasn't stressed or needed to persuade Mary because her response settled the issue. When God gives us an assignment or gives us instructions, how do we respond? Some will even rebuke the spirit of the Lord thinking it's the devil speaking. When we respond to God positively He makes other things fall in place for us with ease. God went ahead to speak to Joseph about the acceptance of Mary and Joseph played along, like saying, “Okay, I will stand as His father according to your word, because the scripture says,
"24. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. - Matthew 1:24-25.
Joseph also accepted and took her in. When our response to God's assignments, calling or instructions are positive we enjoy His leading and fulfilment of His promises. Where do we need to be positive to God's instructions? What are those instructions we are still responding to negatively? The reason for that hardship may be as a result of responding negatively to His will for our lives. Let's take out time to say yes to His will and instruction and things will begin to work out by itself.
