TOPIC: THE INITIAL WORD OF GOD: Our Service Can Alter (6)
One Year Bible Reading:
Isaiah 1 - 2,
Galatians 3:26 - 4:1 - 20
MEMORY VERSE:
Numbers 23:19.
"19. God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"
BIBLE READING:
Isaiah 38:1-5.
"1. In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live. 2. Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, 3. And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. 4. Then came the word of the LORD to Isaiah, saying, 5. Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years."
Thinking Point:
Our services to God can alter the initial word of God in our favour.
It is another weekend with God's blessing in all ramifications, may His name be praised forever more.
Yesterday, we saw how one can alter the initial words of God upon themselves by turning away from God. Today, we are looking at how we can positively alter the initial words of God concerning our lives through our services. Service of God is an instrument we can use to our advantage if it's well rendered wholeheartedly. When we are committed to the works of God and honouring Him in our endeavours it has a reward that can't be quantified. Using our time, resources and energy to please God and walking faithfully gives us an edge to initiate some changes of God's initial word against us.
When Dorcas, Tabitha, died, men and brethren saw it as an untimely death, which means, they still need more of her services, and these people gathered together, sent for Peter. When Apostle Peter heard her testimony it also propels Peter to cry to God to change His concluded word on Dorcas and she was brought back to life because of her services. Hezekiah was another example, a king who served God faithfully. He felt sick and the Lord sent prophet Isaiah to inform him to put his house in order for He will not survive the sickness. But Hezekiah turned to the wall and recounted how he had served the Lord from his youthful days and God altered his initial word by adding an extra fifteen years to his life. We may be faced with questionable situations presently. Man might have pronounced our end but our services to God can turn things around. Our commitment to the community and environs can be an instrument to change the mind of God about our lives. God does listen to those who served Him diligently in their times of challenges. He said there shall be difference between those who served Him and those who served Him not, Malachi 3:18. Your service can alter every initial word of God against you.
