Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 37, Day 3, Tuesday, 9th September, 2025 TOPIC: OUR RESPONSE TO GOD: Apostle Peter

TOPIC: OUR RESPONSE TO GOD: Apostle Peter

One Year Bible Reading:
Proverbs 24 - 26,
2 Corinthians 8 - 9.

MEMORY VERSE:
2 Chronicles 20:20.
"20. ... Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper."

BIBLE READING:
Luke 5:4-5.
"4. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net."

Thinking Point:
Don't think too much concerning His instructions but act accordingly.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ guide our paths to success today in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
This morning I will be starting a new series on “How we respond to God's instructions and rebuke” which goes a long way to determine what we receive from Him. Many prayed and fasted but the problem is not on God's side because He gives instructions which they refuse to yield to. Often we seek His face and He responds with directives but we look away from it as if it wasn't God speaking, so this prolongs our stay in the same position. God does lead by instructions that look stupid and empty but in that instruction is the way we searched for. Instructions like, "Tell the people to move forward" in the face of the Red Sea, Exodus 14. Choosing singers in the face of battle, 2 Chronicles 20:22, and many more. These instructions may look stupid but in them is God glorified.

Take for instance Apostle Peter toiling over the night for a catch on the sea but caught nothing and Jesus came in the morning with an instruction to use His boat as a pulpit, how did he respond? With gentle obedience. He put forth his boat for Jesus to use as a stage for his sermon, to and fro, to and fro till He ended His message. Let me ask this question, did you think Peter wasn't touched with the message? He must have had some words of Jesus during the sermon that gave him a hope that things will be better even if not at that moment but He had believed in Jesus' message. When Jesus was done and gave him instructions to,
"Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught."

Peter thought of when he came to sea, since last night, and caught nothing, he also thought of the message Jesus just gave and concluded, He must be a master, a preacher, and said,

"And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: NEVERTHELESS AT THY WORD I WILL LET DOWN THE NET."

Faith in Jesus and His word. There was doubt but he took the step of faith according to Jesus' message to the crowd and Jesus' instructions to him. Most times we get nothing from God because we couldn't connect His word and His instructions to us. We dwell more in physicality than spirituality. Peter listened to those instructions according to Jesus's word and did as He was instructed then it was a miracle. God won't tell you to do what will end in futility. He will instruct us on the way to go that will end in productivity. What has He instructed you to do that you refuse to do about your spouse? Sometimes all we need is to swallow our pride and take the step then the unexpected happens. What are you afraid of or what will you lose if you follow God's instructions? Think on this today and do as He says and it will end in testimony.
