TOPIC: HOW DO YOU TREAT YOURSELF.: Love Yourself First (1)

MEMORY VERSE: 
Mark 12:31.
"31. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these."

Thinking Point:
Loving yourself first before loving others isn't a crime or a sin, it's a commandment.

This week, we shall experience freedom, progress and liberty in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
 
This week, our topic will centre on ourselves, how we treat ourselves. Our Lord Jesus revealed this secret that we all need to know. One of the greatest insights Jesus gave us was the two commandments while He was on earth, which we, as Christians, hardly obey completely. Jesus said, in Mark 12:29-31  

"29. And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt 
love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these."

We are commanded to love three sets of people while on earth. The first is to "Love God", which is above all. Secondly we are to Love Ourselves, and thirdly, we're to Love Our Neighbors. It'll be very hard for us to completely obey the three commandments, especially when we obey the first, leaving out the second and trying to obey the third. We prove to love the Lord our God and love our neighbours without loving ourselves first.

"Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbour As Thyself.

You must love yourself first, I'm not talking about being selfish, but what you desire for yourself should be what you desire for others. When you take good care of yourself, that's when you can do the same to others. You can't love others more than you love yourself because nobody will love you back. Putting yourself first isn't a crime but a commandment. Showing yourself care is the best love to show before loving others.

Jesus said, "..., Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbour As Thyself..." 
If you don't love yourself you can't truly love your neighbour, be sure it's what you do to yourself that you should replicate to others not the other way around. Love yourself first before you can love others. It's time we start loving ourselves before loving or showing love to others. Love Yourself.

How do I love myself? 
If I love myself I wouldn't take dangerous substances into my health. I will stick to God's commandment and instructions since they are for me. To love myself is to avoid anything that will be detrimental to my system and my life. The question this morning is how well do you love yourself? How well do I show myself love?
