Thinking Point:
Let God be your source of information before taking action.
Happy Sunday to everyone. We thank God for the breath of life and wholeness again, may His name be praised forever more, Amen.
Seeking God's direction is our focus today, knowing the mind of God before taking action. Many times we found ourselves in a situation which is as a result of lack of proper counsel from God. We take steps without involving God which has ended many in danger. There are times we need to seek His mind thoroughly before acting. God is ready to make His kind known to us, to direct our path if only we are ready to follow His instructions. Many trips ended some people's lives because they refused to know the mind of God concerning the trip. Yes, there are times that we feel the need to do certain things which are in line with the purpose of God concerning our lives and it ends up well but most times we conclude that it should be this way while it shouldn't be because not every good thing is right for us. Prophet Samuel was sent to anoint one of the sons of Jesse as a replacement of King Saul. Because he was a prophet he never bothered to seek God's mind and concluded it was Eliab but God cautioned him, don't always judge, wait for my instructions, 1 Samuel 17:8. We sometimes conclude on God's behalf and never bother to ask for His will and when it's not from God it doesn't always end well.
David was a clear example of a man who was after God's heart. In his desperation he sought God's mind even when the priest, Abiathar, was also confused and couldn't seek the face of God. But David sought the face of God and asked Him,
"..., Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all."
David never relied on his strength or wealth of experience but relay on God at that moment and asked if he should go after the troops. This new year, we ought to develop the habit of seeking God's decision in all we do. We need to stop guessing and assuming but ask God for direction in order to avoid waste of time and resources. We need to seek His mind prior to taking action. He is willing to speak to us and give us direction in order to get us to our destination at the right time. The scripture said in Isaiah 55:6,
"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:"
Let us put more effort into seeking God's face this year before acting on our dreams and purpose in life. As we seek His face may we be ready to receive and abide by His instructions in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
God Bless you and Good Morning.
