Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 5, Day 5, Thursday, 29th January, 2026 TOPIC: JONAH'S STORY; God Gains Glory (5)

TOPIC: JONAH'S STORY; God Gains Glory (5)

One Year Bible Reading:
Exodus 16 - 17
Matthew 20: 17 - 34

MEMORY VERSE:
1 Samuel 15:22
"22. And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams."

BIBLE READING:
Jonah 1:15-16.
"15. So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.
16 Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows."

Thinking Point:
God gains Glory on every obedience and disobedience to His words.

Today, I speak peace to that situation roaring like a lion, raging like a storm in your life in Jesus name. Peace over every case against your life, both lawfully and unlawfully in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Children of God, the focus of God concerning every situation around our lives is for Him to take all the glory. Whatever will not announce His glory He is not interested. Every situation that looks tense, fearful and thorough, God uses it for His own glory. Some things we may feel God isn't doing anything good with our lives because of what people are saying, but in the end, He gains all the glory. Get this, every disobedience, mistake or action of faith is for God's glory, that is why the Bible says, in Romans 8:28,
"28. And we know that ALL THINGS (either good or bad) work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

As long as we love God, He gains glory over every situation around our lives. He turns things to work in our favour so that men will see His act in us and trust in Him.

In the case of Jonah, after he was cast into the sea the Bible says, "..., and the sea ceased from her raging." The Marines were confused, why will throwing a man into the sea stop the raging of the sea? And at the end, the Bible says, "Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows."

They just discovered the God who cares for his children more than their god. They experience the God who can't be seen but see His wonders and they worship that God even in the absence of Jonah. God won souls to Himself through the disobedience of Jonah. Beloved, whatever may be happening in your life today, is for God to gain his glory. When the three Hebrew boys were cast in the fierce furnace of fire it was for God to gain His glory and Nebuchadnezzar said, everyone should serve their God, Daniel 3:28-30. I don't know that situation you are going through, no matter how tough and rough, stressful and draining, beloved of God, I know God knows about it and He is gaining glory to His name through it. He hasn't abandoned you, He is working things out for His glory over your life and to save souls to Himself.
One more time, I decree upon you this morning, that the storm will cease, that roaring like a lion is silence in Jesus' mighty name, Jesus is coming at your aid in Jesus name, Amen.

God Bless you and Good Morning.
