Oluboye Emmanuel Ministry Mobile Daily Devotional Week 5, Day 2, Monday, 26th January, 2026 TOPIC: JONAH'S STORY; No Hiding Place ( 2)

TOPIC: JONAH'S STORY; No Hiding Place ( 2)

One Year Bible Reading:
Exodus 10 - 12
Matthew 18:15 - 35

MEMORY VERSE:
1 Samuel 15:22
"22. And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams."

BIBLE READING:
Jonah 1:3
"3. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD."

Thinking Point:
There's no hiding place before God He is everywhere.

Today, being the first working day of the week, the strength to do exploits rests upon us, wisdom to convert losses to profit comes upon us, God's glory be revealed upon us this week in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

Hiding before the Lord is like a grown up man hiding behind a broom, how hidden can he be?
King David speaking in Psalms 139:7-11, said,
"7. Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

Prophet Jonah forgot this Psalm of King David, went in the opposite direction God sent him. He boarded a ship heading to Tarshish instead of Nineveh. He went down to the dock to hide from God, but David said, "Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?" He thought he had outsmarted God not knowing God can't be outsmarted. God allowed the ship to depart the port and He, the Almighty, showed Himself.

Many believers move to a different location in order to elope from God. Some go to a far distance to commit sin and come back home as a saint. They live a double life thinking their acts are unknown, may i let you know that God is omnipresent, He is everywhere. If no man is seeing you God is watching you live and direct without any tick darkness to cover your shame. Adam and Eve thought they were wise by hiding from God in the cool of the day after they ate the fruit, Genesis 3. God instantly asked them, have you eaten from the tree of good and evil? Brethren, nothing is hiding before God, our sins are plain before Him. Your colleagues may not know what's going on between you and your boss. Your spouse may not be aware you're cheating on them but they are all plain before God. Depart your evil ways and return to the Lord. Seek for his forgiveness before it's too late. God doesn't give attention to the disobedient child in as much as He still loves them, they can't be trusted. What is that act you need to bring to light and shame the devil of? Jonah thought the deeper He goes the hidden he was not knowing there wasn't distance before God. He is everywhere at all times. Come out of your hiding and do the will of God.

God Bless you and Good Morning.
