Thinking Point:
Lack of compassion is the reason for a disorganised world.
It's the last working day of the week, we thank God for the strength that has been at work in us throughout the week, may His name be praised forever more.
From the parable of Jesus, it was made known that a Samaritan responded to the robbed man, he turned around to check on him. There was the difference between him and the rest who walked away and the difference is a compassionate heart. Compassionate is a character of our God. He introduced himself to Moses saying,
"6. And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth," Exodus 34:6 (KJV)
"6. The LORD passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness." Exodus 34:6 (NLT)
That is the God we serve, a compassionate and merciful God. He shows compassion to all without a request made. The reason God destroyed the universe was because of wickedness which is the lack of compassion. Where compassion rules wickedness has no room whatsoever. In Genesis 6:5-7, God speaking,
"5. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
The world became a place without compassion, a wicked world, making the hearts of men full of evil and God wasn't pleased with such a world, so He destroyed a world without compassion.
Jesus our Lord is compassionate who came to the world to die for you and I. While on earth the scripture recorded Him showing compassion daily. In Matthew 9:36, the Bible speaking of Jesus's compassion,
"36. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd."
His compassion led to the feeding of 5,000 and 4,000 individuals, He wasn't a wicked God. When we lack compassion nothing leads us to help a neighbour. Heartlessness is the reason for unrest in our world today.
The Samaritan man was different because of a compassionate heart not a wicked heart like that of the priest and the Levite. God reigns where there is compassion. A compassionate heart is the reason behind all help whatsoever, I like to ask you this morning, How compassionate are you? Marriage without compassion is hell. Home without compassion is a cell. A worship place without compassion is a village meeting. How compassionate are you? Those who affect souls in this world today are people with a compassionate heart not wicked heart. If you are not compassionate you are not Christ-like neither do you belong to God because God is compassionate and Jesus is the same. A compassionate heart is the source of peace in any world. A compassionate heart feels others' pain and is moved to heal the pain, do you subdue or you increase others pain? A compassionate heart heals wounded souls, be more compassionate.
