Thinking Point:
Delay in acting on God's voice brings confusion and doubt.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good for His mercy endures forever. Thank God it's Friday. It's the start of the weekend, the mercies of God have seen us through, we give God thanks.
In today's devotional, we shall be studying the next step after hearing God's voice. We have studied how to discern God's voice. What next? The first thing to do when you have accepted and believed His voice, when you are confident that God speaks to you, then take action, take the step, do as He instructed. When God speaks, there are always reasons not to act, you will see your incompetence, lack of resources, impossibilities and fear of the unknown but it can only be overcome by taking action towards what God says. Every delay to God's voice creates more distraction. The more we delay in taking action the more we lose the zeal to move. Moses had all reasons not to go to Egypt when God called him which includes being in the wanted list in Egypt, he was eighty years of age, he was tongue-tied. He presented all his reasons but God's voice prevailed, Exodus 3 - 4.
When Abraham was called in Genesis chapter 12, he acted instantly, there was no argument and the journey was taken over by God. Responding to God's voice instantly brings more clarity and reduces reasons for delayed results.
Isaac was in the land of Gerar and he desired to move to the land of Egypt but God's voice came saying, "Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of" and Isaac dwell in Gerar. Being obedient to God's voice and taking action put God into action, delay in taking steps amounts to no response.
What is that instruction you need to respond to? Is it about your calling, marriage, career, location or association? It's better to respond now than to regret later. When Jonah responded late he went through the belly of the fish for three days and started all over again, Jonah 1 - 3. Delay is risky likewise not responding is dangerous. Take steps towards what God is instructing you to do. If God sent you an errand that means it is time to start not to wait or delay any longer.
God Bless you and Good Morning.
