A garment shelters when it fits, but hinders when it binds.
Happy New Week God's people. This week, every form of hindrance working against our progress is separated from our lives in Jesus name, Amen.
Today, our lesson from the life of The Blind Bartimaeus is doing away with every hindrance - Garments. When Jesus sent for blind Bartimaeus, the scripture said, "And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus" which garment and why casting the garment away? For anyone to walk with, receive and enjoy Jesus, there are garments meant to be cast away. What are these garments? They are hindrances to reaching God, distractions, things dropped on us by men or by ourselves. Some of these garments are from within which are, the garment of heaviness, Is. 60:3. Garment of down casting, Ps. 42:6. Garment of experience, Luke 5:5. Garment of help of man, Ps. 60:11. Garment of negative imagination, 2 Corinth. 10:4, and many more, these garments need to be done away with. For some it may be something special to you that is the hindrance to what God wants to do in your life. For some, it may be principles, attitude, family pattern, upbringing or personal decisions which may be the reason why God's intention has been withheld in our lives.
Blind Bartimaeus identified what needs to be cast away. He knew with this garment he couldn't meet up with Jesus. Mind you, there was a time when the garment was useful for covering, protection from the cold, but at that moment it became a hindrance to his breakthrough, it became a load too heavy to carry.
Can we identify that garment we need to let go for God to turn our situation around? Such garments may be useful at a time but useless at the moment, it becomes a hindrance now. Maybe you need to let go of a hurt, forgive someone, help someone or start that idea again. Maybe you need to stop comparing others to yourself and believe in your ability and kick off. Yours might be ingratitude, grumbling, murmuring or bitterness. We need to search out that hindrance to our life changing moments. Jesus is calling but what we held unto is holding us back from receiving what He has for us.
Hebrews 12:1, says,
"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."
"So, let us lay aside every weight and sin", yours may be sin, waywardness, standing against God's servant, troubling your spouse, your parents, fighting here and there, it's time to lay aside every hindrance, nailing you down in a position. What are those weights to let go? Throw the garment away and walk free into your Liberty today.
