TOPIC: FOLLOWING JESUS: Be Grateful For The little (7)
One Year Bible Reading:
1st Samuel 23 - 25
Luke 21:5 - 38
MEMORY VERSE:
Matthew 11:28.
"28. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
BIBLE READING:
John 6:11.
"11. AND JESUS TOOK THE LOAVES; AND WHEN HE HAD GIVEN THANKS, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would."
Thinking Point:
Thanking God for little or small provision is asking God for multiplication.
Today, all our past effort shall pay off and our labour will be rewarded in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Being grateful is being thankful for God's blessings. Grumbling is a sign of ingratitude. Tagging provision 'Small' is a sign of ingratitude or lack of appreciation. If you can't thank God for little things you won't grow to show gratitude for bigger things. When you tagged provision "too small" you will never experience the multiplication in that seed. This is the principle of greatness, showing gratitude for little and all provision. Greediness is a fruit of ingratitude. When you are not satisfied with what you have you are walking into greediness.
Jesus knew this principle so He never deliberated on the size of the loaves and fishes. The scripture said, He collected it and gave thanks to God His father as a sign of being grateful. What you are not grateful for will only decrease, not increase. Someone gave you a gift and you are measuring it with your need and you concluded that it's not enough, did you work to deserve it? Your spouse gave you some cash, you turned it into trouble because it's too small. When you see gifts, provisions or supply as little you kill the multiplication in the seed. A mango seed will produce thousands of fruits if well appreciated and buried in the right place. You don't need a thousand mango seeds to get a thousand mango fruits, just a seed is enough. In the same way, God only releases a seed, like five loaves of barley and two fishes not hundred loaves of barley and basket filled of fishes to feed 5,000 people. Be thankful for the little and you will experience the multiplication. Showing gratitude to people encourages them to do more to others and to you also. Thank God for that small salary. Thank God for that spouse you look down on. Thank God for that ministry that is not bumming yet. Thank God for the provisions that seem not to be enough because thanksgiving brings increase while grumbling attracts subtraction. Apostle Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5:18,
"18. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
"In everything" means, under any condition, 'little or multiple', 'have or have not, satisfied or not, give thanks to God in that situation because He always knows what to do concerning the circumstances. When we thank Him we put Him to work again. Thanking Him reminds Him of reultiplication. Thank Him for the little things and you will see Him in a bigger way.
