TOPIC: ATTRIBUTE TO DEVELOP: Humility Before Man (2)

One Year Bible Reading:
1 Kings 7 - 8
John 5: 31 - 47

MEMORY VERSE:
James 4:10.
"6. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up."

BIBLE READING:
Luke 18:10-14.
"10. Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."

Thinking Point:
Rating yourself better than others is a sign of pride before God.

This week, as we step out to our various work places, all our endeavors will speak of the glory of God, what seems to be evil will work in our favour, we will be full with wonders of His grace in Jesus name, Amen.

Humility before God, we said, it's seeing God as the doer of all achievement around our lives. To approach God in prayers we need to come with a humble heart. Today, we focus on humility towards men, seeing others as God sees them not according to what they lack and what we have or according to how they dress and what we put on. Pride is the reason why we laughed at others who are experiencing some lack in life. When you look down on others God looks down on you. When you segregate others because of their looks, their needs and their level you are simply telling God to demote you from your high level. Humility towards others makes you appreciate how people are, show them love and make them feel acceptable and welcome. When you choose to leverage on the difference between you and others and deprive them of what they are entitled to, you are preparing for your own downfall before God because, He who lifts the humble is the same God who humbles the lifted.

Jesus gave a scenario of the Pharisee and the Publican who went to the temple to pray. The Pharisee saw the Publican as a sinner who is not worthy to appear before God because he fasted twice a week, paid his tithe and did not commit adultery. Jesus said the Publican humbled himself, smote his chest and said, I am a sinner, Lord have mercy on me. Asking God for mercy shows how humble we are, not comparing ourselves with men. When all you see is "I'm better than him" pride has set in. If you keep seeing others as someone God has rejected, check yourself you might be on your down because God isn't happy with that lifestyle. Apostle James said,

James 4:6.
"6. But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble."

God makes grace available for those who are humble, without humility grace stops flowing. Humility towards man shows humility towards God. When you are not humble to man you can't be humble to God.

God Bless you and Good Morning.
