TOPIC: STUDY ON 2 KINGS 4: Avoid Debt By All Means (3)
One Year Bible Reading:
2 Kings 18 - 19
John 12: 20 - 50
MEMORY VERSE:
2 Tim. 2:15
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
BIBLE READING:
2 kings 4:1
"1 A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves”.
Thinking Point:
Debt is a tool to slavery which should be avoided at all cost.
It's a new day filled with God’s grace to accomplish every task ahead. The needed strength to scale over situations is made available for us all in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Nothing makes one a slave like being in debt. Debt knows no boundary, the repercussion goes beyond one's enjoyment and expectation. To be in debt is to be under the control of others. Debts disgrace, embarrass, reproach and sideline one in life. Prov. 22:7, says,
"The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower is servant to the lender."
Borrowing makes you a servant to the lender. It belittles one destroys earned respect. To keep borrowing is locking the door of freedom on one’s self. Now, borrowing may be wise when you are investing in an existing business but not wise when starting a new business. Some borrow to show off, to compete with friends, to feel among, it's unwise to borrow for pleasure, likewise unwise to borrow to feed when there's no plan on how to refund.
The widow's late husband was indebted with a large sum of money to the extent of quantifying his two sons with the debt, too outrageous. He died without paying the debt which put the woman in a dilemma position. She couldn't handle it because her children are involved and she has nowhere to pay. It is better to avoid being a debtor than looking for someone to help you out of debt.
Avoid debt, it enslaves and ridicules one. It puts a question mark on your character. I pray with you this morning, whoever may be going through indebtedness, God will give you wisdom to rescue you from it all in Jesus mighty name, you will freed from slavery and fear of debt from now on in Jesus wonderful name, Amen
God Bless you and Good Morning.
